Billy Ray Cyrus’s Estranged Wife, Firerose, Has Accused Him Of “Extreme Verbal, Emotional, And Psychological Abuse” Amid Their Divorce

It comes shortly after news broke that Billy Ray and Firerose had separated following just seven months of marriage.

This article discusses allegations of abuse.

Last month, Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rosie Hodges.

The pair tied the knot roughly a year after Billy Ray ended his 30-year marriage with Tish Cyrus, and were only married for seven months before calling it quits.

Billy Ray welcomed three kids — Miley, Braison, and Noah Cyrus — with Tish during their marriage. He also adopted two of Tish’s older children from a previous marriage, Brandi and Trace, in 1993.

This week, Billy Ray filed a complaint in Williamson County, Tennessee, alleging that Firerose tried to “isolate” him from his family, lied about her identity, and attempted to use the Cyrus name to benefit her career.

In the legal documents, which were obtained by People and E! News, Billy Ray claimed that he learned Firerose was “conducting a campaign to isolate” by blocking “at least one of his daughters from being able to contact him.” The filings did not specify which of Billy Ray’s daughters he was referring to.

Billy Ray also alleged that Firerose had lied about being married twice in the past and about her last name.

Billy Ray also claimed that after he filed for divorce from her last month, Firerose made numerous charges on his business credit card, all of which totaled almost $97,000. This allegation was denied by Firerose’s attorneys, who wrote in response to the filing: “To claim Wife has made 37 unauthorized charges is untrue. Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the marriage. Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off.”

Elsewhere in her counter-filing, Firerose accused him of “extreme verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse.” She also claimed that the country singer filed to end their marriage just one day before she was scheduled to undergo a planned double mastectomy for breast cancer.

BuzzFeed has reached out to representatives for Billy Ray on these claims.
