Chrissy Teigen Opened Up About Limiting Her Kids To “An Hour” Of iPad Time And Not Wanting Them To Join Social Media Until They Finish High School

It comes three years after Chrissy was infamously exposed for harassing and bullying then-teenaged Courtney Stodden in a series of since-deleted tweets.

Chrissy Teigen doesn’t want her kids to join social media any time soon.

As you might know, Chrissy and her husband, John Legend, share four kids: Luna, 8; Miles, 6; Esti, 16 months; and Wren, 11 months.

But although Chrissy frequently shares photos of her kids on her Instagram page, she’s now revealed that she doesn’t want her kids to join social media until they finish high school.

On Tuesday, Chrissy — who has quit X (formerly Twitter) in the past and acknowledged the “relentless bullying” that can take place on social media — spoke out at Aura’s inaugural Digital Parenthood Summit about monitoring her kids’ internet usage.

“There’s a tight timeframe. Maybe an hour on the weekends,” she said of how often they’re allowed to use their iPads, adding that she’s “uncomfortable” with her kids potentially seeing inappropriate adverts.

Chrissy went on to say that her kids joining social media “after high school” would be her “absolute dream.”

“Unless there are more rules and regulations in place, I would prefer for them not to be on social,” she said. “I want them to be safe and happy and flourishing as kids.”

As for why she shares her kids online despite her thoughts on social media, Chrissy explained, “In so much of my life, I feel like people don’t understand me. But being a mom is where a lot of people understand me… I love getting to have this community online here to get to share the ups and downs and people get to see it all.”

Chrissy’s comments come three years after she was exposed for bullying then-teenaged Courtney Stodden in a series of since-deleted posts.

Courtney, who is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns, got married to 51-year-old actor Doug Hutchison when they were just 16 — something that they were sadly mocked and shamed for at the time. After the pair divorced in 2020, Courtney detailed the “grooming” and “abuse” they experienced in the marriage.

In 2021, Courtney revealed during an explosive interview that Chrissy had been one of many celebrities who’d bullied her during that period. “[Chrissy] wouldn’t just publicly tweet about wanting me to take 'a dirt nap' but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself. Things like, 'I can’t wait for you to die,’” they alleged.

Internet users later uncovered a bunch of alleged now-deleted tweets from Chrissy to Courtney — and before long, Chrissy publicly apologized.

“I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be,” she wrote. “I was an insecure, attention seeking troll. I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior but that is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel.”

“I have worked so hard to give you guys joy and be beloved and the feeling of letting you down is nearly unbearable, truly. These were not my only mistakes and surely won’t be my last as hard as I try but god I will try!!” she said.

Chrissy also claimed that she’d reached out to Courtney to apologize directly, although Courtney denied this at the time.
