Kevin Spacey Said That He Received A Message Of “Support” From King Charles Amid His Sexual Assault Allegations

Anthony accused the esteemed actor of sexually assaulting him in 1986, when he was just 14 years old, and Kevin was 27. Following Anthony’s initial allegations, more than 30 men came forward with similar allegations against Kevin, which ranged from nonconsensual groping to the attempted rape of minors.

Kevin has vehemently denied all of the allegations, and his first response to Anthony’s claims was to issue a statement where he came out as gay. He added on X at the time: “If I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.”

In October 2022, Anthony lost his civil lawsuit against Kevin. The actor then stood trial in the UK for multiple sexual offenses against four men between 2001 and 2013, and in July 2023, he was acquitted on all counts. 

Last month, Kevin denied fresh allegations against him that featured in the Channel 4 documentary Spacey Unmasked. The documentary features testimony from multiple men “regarding events they say took place between 1976 and 2013, and relate to what they describe as unwanted sexual behavior.”

When pushed on what he meant by this, Kevin clarified: “Pushing the boundaries…being too handsy…touching someone sexually in a way that I didn't know at the time they didn't want."

When Piers asked if that included “groping people,” Kevin confirmed that it did before adding: “Grope is a very odd word. I personally… I have caressed people. I have been gentle with people; that is the way that I am.”

“You're making a pass at someone, you don't want to be aggressive, you want to be gentle and see if they are going to respond positively,” he went on. “So I think the word [grope] itself is not a word that I associate with my experience.”

When asked if his actions had always been consensual, Kevin replied: “They should let you know that they don’t want to do it, so you can understand that it is nonconsensual and stop.”

Kevin is acquainted with the British royal through his work with the Prince’s Trust charity, and was presented with an honorary knighthood by then-Prince Charles in 2015.

And the star initially tried to dodge Piers’s question when asked if the King had made contact, with Piers kicking off the conversation by enquiring: “When your troubles started, when the scandal blew up, he did reach out to you?”

“Uhm, no, I haven’t heard from him directly, no,” Kevin replied, to which the host pushed: “But through other people?”

Kevin then stuttered as he answered: “That might be true.”

“Come on, Kevin,” Piers retorted. “You’ll know whether that’s true or not — he’s now the King of England!”

“I do, but you know,” Kevin began to stutter again, and when Piers asked once more: “But he did contact you?” Kevin repeated: “No, he did not contact me directly, no."

“A message of support?” Piers then clarified, which Kevin confirmed to be the case.

“I don’t want to drag him into all this,” Kevin then explained, and when Piers said that it was a message that Charles had “wanted” him to hear, Kevin replied: “I can’t tell you what he was intending.”
