Back in March, Suki Waterhouse welcomed her first child with Robert Pattinson.
Suki got candid about her “humbling” postpartum experience following the birth of her daughter. She wrote on Instagram in April, “The fourth trimester has been… humbling! the postpartum period has been filled with exhilarating joy, so much laughter, tears, soo many hormones! I’m proud of everything my body has achieved and proud of the kindness and grace I’ve given myself during this recovery period.”
Nevertheless, Suki surprised fans by performing on both weekends at Coachella just six weeks after welcoming her child.
At the time, Suki found herself at the center of mixed discourse around her decision to perform at the festival, with several of her Instagram comments reminding her that she only “just” had a baby.
Now, Suki is reflecting on the criticism she faced during this time.
Sitting down with British Vogue this week as its latest cover star, Suki revealed that she had doubts about playing Coachella so soon after giving birth.
“Like, honestly, of course [I was thinking], Holy shit, how is this going to work, is this even going to be possible?” she recalled.
“You just have to go, ‘This is what we’re doing, this is what we’re about, and fuck what anyone else thinks,’” she shared.
Suki also added, “Every mum’s morality is in question so much, not just from yourself, but from society. Everyone’s projecting something onto you. That’s an insane thing.”
