After Revealing That Her Baby Boy Has “Never” Slept In His Own Crib, Kourtney Kardashian Defended Her Decision To Co-Sleep With Him And Said She’s Done So “Safely” Since 2009

Kourtney previously revealed that she shared a bed with her now-11-year-old daughter, Penelope, almost every night for over a decade.

Earlier this year, Kourtney Kardashian sparked a divide when she opened up about co-sleeping with her then-3-month-old baby, Rocky.

Kourtney and her husband, Travis Barker, welcomed baby Rocky in November last year. She also shares three kids with her ex Scott Disick: Mason, 14, Penelope, 11, and Reign, 9.

Speaking with The Cut back in February, Kourt revealed that she and Travis practice “safe co-sleeping” with their baby boy.

“Now we have our baby in our bed with us, so we’re also cuddling with him. We do take up more of the bed now because we do safe co-sleeping, and there’s a position I have to sleep in with the baby,” she said.

A few months later, Kourtney revealed that baby Rocky had “never” slept in his own crib.

Several fans were concerned at Kourtney’s revelation, given that co-sleeping is deemed unsafe by many professionals, including the American Academy of Pediatrics. According to KidsHealth.org, co-sleeping with a baby “increases the risk of sleep-related deaths.”

Meanwhile, other experts argue that co-sleeping has several benefits, too.

Now, Kourtney has doubled down on her stance, reminding fans that she’s “been co-sleeping safely since 2009.”

“been co-sleeping safely since 2009, I still love reading/listening to more safe co-sleeping tips and hearing about the benefits,” she wrote over a screenshot from an audiobook titled “Safe Infant Sleep: Expert Answers to Your Cosleeping Questions.”

If you’ve followed Kourt over the years, you’ll know that she’s long been open about co-sleeping with her children.

Back in 2014, she revealed that Mason, then 4, still slept in her bed because she “felt really attached” to him after he was born.

“Mason and Penelope still sleep in my bed,” she told Redbook magazine. ”It’s what came naturally to me; I didn’t plan it. When I had Mason, I just felt really attached to him, and wanted to bring him everywhere. He ended up sleeping with me, and I breastfed for 14 months.”

Fast forward to 2022, and Kourtney revealed that Penelope slept in her bed almost every night “since she was born.”

“She’s slept with me every day since she was born,” she shared on Amanda Hirsch’s Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. “And pretty much still does, unless she has a friend sleep over.”
